Meals on Main Street’s second annual Swing Into Summer event hosted over 350 people this past Friday, June 9th at Westchester Country Club. Meals on Main Street (MOMS aka Caritas Port Chester) raised over its goal of $500,000 to fill one of their Mobile Pantry trucks for one full year. Each truck can deliver 780,000 pounds of food, which makes up 650,000 meals.

Acting as the event’s Emcee was Rye resident and Fox5 news reporter, Richard Giacovas. In addition, fellow Rye resident Andrew Keller and his band, Skunkworks, performed throughout the evening.

Terence Lineham, MOMS’s Board President, was the event’s honoree. He has been working with Caritas in Port Chester since December 2013, where he made his first donation to the organization. Since then, his involvement with MOMS has been extensive, becoming a member of the Board of Directors in 2014 and Board President in 2017.

MOMS also honored 5 high school students with a new award, The Light of Innovation, for their efforts to create new ideas to help end food insecurity. Four of these students, Charlie Hirschhorn, Alexa and Jordan Hoberman and Ryan Frieman, created The Friendly Fridge Network which is a support system to fill strategically located refrigerators throughout New York. The fifth student, a Rye Country Day Senior, Arthur Wang, created two apps that helped Meals On Main Street streamline their distribution efforts.
