Obituary - John Fraser Horn - 2In Loving Memory of John Fraser Horn, a devoted husband, loving father and cherished member of his community peacefully passed away on October 20, 2023, at The Osborn in Rye, New York. He was born on May 15, 1934, in New York City to Fraser Macpherson Horn and Elizabeth Stoddard Horn.

Following graduation from Yale, John was for many years a partner of Wagner Stott and Company, a specialist firm on the New York Stock Exchange. An avid golfer and sportsman, he loved the out-of-doors and was a member of, among other clubs, National Golf Links of America, The Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews, and The Bathing Corporation of Southampton.

For a tall man, he loved his houses with very low ceilings, including The Craig, a 800-year-old house in Scotland at which he loved entertaining friends and family and mowing the lawns. He also enjoyed his years and many friends at Windsor in Vero Beach, Florida. He also loved the art and practice of cooking. John also had success in National Hunt racing in England in the 1990s, especially with his horse Bigsun. He embraced life and was known for his warm smile, generous spirit, and a great sense of humor. His family and friends were the beneficiaries of his affectionate nature and his presence was a source of happiness for all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity or cause close to your heart in John’s memory. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation for the support and condolences received during this difficult time. His legacy lives on in the hearts of his family and friends.

John is survived by his wife Elizabeth “Betsy” Ross Horn, his brother L. Stoddard Horn, three sons, Fraser (Kristen), Andrew (Naniscah) and Geoffrey (Bonnie) Horn, step-daugh- ters Anastasia Edwards (Stefan Cucos) and Philippa Cully (John), grandchildren Elisa, Yuri, Aleksei, Sasha, Ella and Ava Horn, step-grandchildren Iona and Alexander Cucos, Miranda Cully and great- grandson Slater Horn. A memorial service to celebrate John’s wonderful life will be held in the summer of 2024 in Southampton. The specific date will be determined and shared with all those who wish to pay their respects.
