The Varsity Field Hockey Team lost just its second game of the 2024 season on Wednesday evening, dropping a 3-0 decision to the John Jay-Cross River Wolves. JJCR scored at the very end of the first half and twice more in the following two quarters, while holding a potent Rye offense in check for the shutout win.

“Girls played toughed against a very talented John Jay team,” Assistant Coach Theresa Jelalain said of the game in her postgame report.

Rye suffers its first defeat since losing 2-0 to Horace Greeley nine days ago. This also marks the team’s first away loss after winning their road opener against Nanuet on September 17.

The Garnets, still a strong 6-2, are back at home on Friday, September 27, as they host Somers. Game time is set for 5:00pm at Nugent Stadium – watch it here. Watch their loss to John Jay here.
