The Girls Varsity Soccer Team took care of business in their final regular season game of the 2024 season, defeating Byram Hills 4-0 on the evening of Monday, October 21. Head Coach Rich Savage’s group finished a sparkling regular season with an overall 14-1-1 record and an undefeated mark in league play.

The game also stood as senior night for the Garnets. Rye celebrated their nine seniors (Lucy Wykoff, Joy DeSanto, Ali Koford, Lyla Keenan, Bowyn Brown, Ava Cross, Sienna Wardle, Reese Lejuez, and Mary Sack) before the game, and then during the game, coming away with a big win over the visiting Bobcats.

Three seniors scored for the Garnets out of their four tallies, started off by Ava Cross. Cross buried a 35 yard shot past an outstretched Byram Hills goalkeeper early in the match, and Rye kept their foot on the gas from there. Reese Lejuez put the Garnets up 2-0, celebrating with Mary Sack after the goal. Charlotte Keenan recorded the third goal for Rye, and senior Joy DeSanto got the fourth goal with a beautifully placed left foot bid.

Hannah Jachman played a large role to prevent the Bobcats from making it onto the scoreboard, as did keeper Tessa Labovitz. She recorded another shutout – the team’s thirteenth of the season. They have allowed four goals all season – one to Pearl River, one to Eastchester, and two to John Jay East Fishkill.

Backed by a strong regular season, Rye will begin their sectional playoff run at home on Friday, October 25. Their opponent and the exact start time of the match are still TBD. Watch the recent senior night win here.
