The Rye Field Hocket Team capped off their regular season with a resoundign victory on Monday evening, defeating the Henry Hudson Sailors 8-0 on the road. With the win, Rye puts themselves in position to clinch the 4th seed for playoffs, although that is not official yet.

“The girls had a slow start to the game then picked it up by the second quarter,” Assistant Coach Theresa Jelalain told MyRye.com after the game. “Everyone came together to pull out a great team win against an athletic Hen Hud team. Girls are excited to start playoffs!”

The Garnets only scored once in the first quarter before exploding for four in the second quarter to take a comfortable 5-0 lead into halftime. Rye would add three more across the final 30 minutes to expand their lead, while keeping the Sailors off the board the entire way.

The team (10-6) is awaiting both an official opponent and start time for their first playoff game, although the date is set – this Friday, October 25. It will likely be at Nugent Stadium. Watch the replay vs. Hen Hud here.
