Hockey Advances to Championship @ Annual Applebee’s Winter Classic

For now it is Eatin’ Good in the Neighborhood for Garnet Hockey.

The Garnets advance to the championship on Saturday at the 9th Annual Applebee’s Winter Classic high school boys hockey tournament at the Ronald B. Stafford Ice Arena in Plattsburg. They will face Beekmantown on Saturday at 1:30pm to win the clean plate club.

All this comes after a decisive 13 – 0 win over the Northeastern Clinton Central School Cougars on Friday.

“In another dominant performance, Rye cruised to a 13-0 win led by Tyler McDermott and Max Niejadlik who each recorded hat tricks,”said Rye Boys Varsity Hockey Coach Peter Thomas. “Jamie Morris added two goals, and Trevor Dolan, Drew Dolan, Ryan Draddy, Dean Kim, and Will Niejadlik (1st varsity goal) each added one goal. Finn Draddy and Will Niejadlik each added 4 assists while Owen Fitzgibbons made 12 saves for the shutout win.”

The Garnet season is now 2 – 2 -1.
