Phoebe Greto dominated for the Rye Girls Basketball Team on Wednesday evening, as the Garnets narrowly defeated Pelham 63-56 to improve to 12-1 on the season. Head Coach Margo Hackett and her team found a way to defeat a strong Pelicans team to pick up a key road league victory.

Greto dropped 24 points in a stellar effort, pacing Rye easily. Behind the star junior, Paige Tepedino continued a strong season with twelve points of her own. Stella Maresca (11 points), Molly Kennedy (8 points), and Charlotte Storz (5 points) provided depth scoring to round out the Garnets’ top five scorers on a night with 119 combined points between the two rivals.

Before the season, Hackett pointed out four games on the schedule her team was looking forward to – two against Pelham, and two against Harrison. Rye is one-for-one in those critical rivalry matchups after their victory Wednesday.

Rye (12-1, 3-0) continues to roll in what has become a magical season. They will look to keep it going next week, as they host the Huskies in what should be a raucous environment at the Rye HS gym. It’s the second straight marquee game for the Garnets, who will look for win number thirteen in game fourteen. Tip off at Rye is scheduled for 5:00pm on Monday, January 27. Watch it here.
