The Rye Field Hockey team suffered their first loss of the 2025 season on Saturday, September 13, falling 4-0 at home to Mamaroneck. The Garnets’ potent offense was completely silenced to the tune of just one shot on goal in the shutout defeat.
Goalie Chloe Holden was Rye’s best player all night, making ten saves and keeping the Garnets competitive for most of the game. “[Holden] showed her athleticism and technical skills by making multiple diving saves to keep our team close,” Head Coach Valerie Perkins told MyRye.com on Sunday. “She had great patience and composure in situations when there was chaos in front of the goal and stayed steady to clear the ball out.”
For the Tigers, Lucy Kaplan and Lily Brickman both scored twice, and Penny Norgaard earned the shutout on one save.
Rye (3-1) will look to bounce back next on Tuesday, September 16, as they host Fox Lane. Game time is scheduled for 5:00pm at Nugent Stadium. Watch the Mamaroneck game here.
