The Rye Boys Soccer team earned their fifth straight win of the 2025 season on Saturday, September 27, topping Port Chester 4-0. The Garnets returned from the brief break with conviction, scoring in the 29th minute and three more in the second half to pull away from the Rams and stay hot as September nears its close.
“Coming in after a week of rest and preparation, this was a really complete performance from all 24 members of the squad,” Head Coach Jared Small said after the win. “Our play was concise and purposeful, and as a result our passing and movement off the ball was as it good as it has been all season… A fantastic clean sheet for the lads.”
Connor Dehmer paced the offense with two goals, including the game-winner in the first half and another to open the floodgates in the second half. Kasen Scarperi scored the third for Rye off an assist from Felix Wismer, who added a goal himself to close the scoring. Filip Glitterstam, Lex Cox, and Dodge Terra all recoreded assists as well.
“It was great to see Connor Dehmer record his first two goal game of the season, and it was also beautiful to watch a player like Filip Glitterstam enter the match with confidence and raise our already high level of play to an even greater level,” Small continued. “Center midfielder Peter Wilmot put on a fantastic display… the box to box midfielder was brilliant with his defending and integral in setting up his teammates with insightful passes. Silas Kavanagh also brought intensity and energy to the final phases of the match, helping the Garnets continue to apply pressure in the front third and ultimately limit Port Chester’s opportunities.”
The total team effort brings Rye up to a 7-1-1 record on the season, which they will look to add to on Tuesday, September 30. The Garnets host Keio Academy for a 5:00pm match at Nugent Stadium. Watch it here. Watch the victory over Port Chester here.
