The Rye – Rye Neck – Blind Brook Swim and Dive team suffered their first loss of the 2025 season on Monday, September 29, falling to SHEDI 86-84. The team had entered the meet with a perfect 4-0 record in overall and league play, and came just one placement shy of extending that success.
“I am extremely proud of how we competed as a team tonight,” Head Coach Katie Konopka told MyRye.com. “This was the best racing I have seen this season. Each swimmer and diver gave it their all and raced their hardest against a very talented, large team.”
Rye – Rye Neck – Blind Brook was tied with SHEDI (Sleepy Hollow, Hastings, Edgemont, Irvington) at 78 points apiece heading into the final event of the day, the 400M freestyle relay. Konopka’s group was that close to coming away with a signature win to close out September.
“The team spirit and team work this evening was great,” the head coach continued. “The pool deck was electric during the last relay.”
Rye – Rye Neck – Blind Brook picked up event wins from Sophie Boyle (200M free), Kate Chesley (200M individual medley and 100M backstroke), and Grayson Findlay (50M and 100M free). Findlay, Chesley, Charlotte Tait, and Clare McGlynn also earned a victory for their team in the 200M medley relay.
The team (4-1) celebrates senior night in their next meet, a home bout with Henry Hudson – Croton Harmon – Haldane at 4:20pm on Friday, October 3. “We will celebrate our five seniors Emilia, Sophia, Scarlett, Grayson, and Ella at our senior meet this Friday,” Konopka confirmed (pictured above).
