The Rye Girls Soccer team won their tenth game in a row on Thursday, October 16, shutting Arlington out 4-0. The Garnets stayed unbeaten in style, earning their tenth clean sheet of the season and 12th win in 15 games.

“From the opening whistle, Rye applied heavy pressure and created multiple scoring opportunities,” Head Coach Rich Savage said after the game. “With 15 minutes remaining in the first half, Harkin Brown delivered a perfect corner kick that Hannah Jachman headed into the corner of the net to give the Garnets the lead. Rye continued to control possession and generate chances but couldn’t extend their lead before halftime.”

Clinging to a 1-0 lead, the Garnets faced some adversity early in the second half, as the Admirals pushed for the equalizer. Their defense stood strong though, and eventually the momentum meter shifted back in the Garnets favor. Charlotte Keenan, Brown, and Jachman all scored before the final whistle to add insurance to the Rye lead and leave no doubt about the game’s result. Jachman ended the night with five points (two goals, one assist) and Brown four (one goal, two assists). Shira Rand also chipped in an assist on Keenan’s goal. Keenan’s midseason return from injury has elevated Rye from a great but occasionally inconsistent offense to a bonafide, star-studded unit.

Senior Tessa Labowitz earned the clean sheet in goal with four saves.

Rye (12-0-3) is hot as can be and will close out the regular season on Saturday, October 18, as they host Byram Hills at 2:00pm. Watch it here. Watch the Arlington win here.
