The Rye Boys Varsity Squash team is coming off their first Fairwest League championship in program history last season, and will be hard-pressed to repeat that success under 14-year veteran Quan Huynh. Huynh knows that last year was great, but is seeking sustained success in 2026.

“The program is looking on building on its success from last season,” Huynh told MyRye.com.

Senior Philip Nemeth and junior Charlie Rodilosso will lead the charge as the two team co-captains for this upcoming campaign. “Both student athletes are exceptional young men and positive leaders,” Huynh said of the duo. “They both work extremely hard in the offseason.”

Like last year, the team composition is balanced age-wise. While returning players will have the inside edge towards holding starting roles, a group of fresh faces will add depth and length to the lineup, and could push for spots in the top seven.

While Fairwest League play holds the most pivotal matchups, Huynh and the rest of the Garnets are looking forward to a non-league matchup with Hackley. “Our players always look forward to the match against Hackley,” the head coach told MyRye.com. “Hackley is not in the Fairwest League, but is an extremely challenging opponent every year.”

Games begin on December 9 for the Garnets, who went 8-3 last year en route to the Fairwest Cup and a trip to Nationals in Philadelphia.
