The Rye Girls Basketball team bounced back into the win column on Wednesday, January 21, as they defeated Horace Greeley at home 58-31. The Garnets scored just seven seconds into the game and never looked back, holding another opponent to fewer than 40 points with their strong defensive play and rebounding.
Charlotte Storz dropped 20 points to lead Rye, followed closely by Phoebe Greto with 18. Storz’s outside shooting combined with Greto’s interior presence was far too much for Horace Greeley to handle. The two Garnet stars combined to outscore the Quakers by seven points just by themselves.
The win comes on the heels of Rye’s first loss of the season from Saturday, January 17. The Garnets fell to Albertus Magnus 61-34 – their worst offensive and defensive output of the season. Storz recorded 14 points on Saturday. She now has scored 10+ points in seven consecutive games and nine of the last ten.
Rye (13-1) travels to Mamaroneck for their next game on Friday, January 23. Tip-off against the Tigers begins at 4:30pm. Watch it here. Replay the win over Horace Greeley here.
