Westchester County has released the 2026 hours and fees for Rye Playland – its 98th season – and again promised the return of the famed Dragon Coaster. The Dragon Coaster was one of many rides in the park that were not operating during the 2025 season after the County scrambled to open the park in the wake of Standard Amusements exiting its contract.
Playland’s preseason opening will be Saturday, May 16 and Sunday, May 17, 2026 and the park grand opening will be Saturday, May 23, 2026.
“Playland is one of Westchester’s most cherished destinations and a place where many fond childhood memories are made,” said Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins. “As we welcome the 2026 season, I’m excited for visitors to experience everything Playland has to offer, including rides and games, treats, and Friday night fireworks. It is sure to be a memorable summer for all. I’ll meet you at the Dragon Coaster!”

Fireworks
Fourth of July Fireworks will return this year, along with weekly Friday night fireworks thereafter.

Following Memorial Day Weekend from Saturday, May 23 through Monday, May 25, the park will follow a Wednesday through Sunday schedule for the remainder of the season, through Labor Day, Monday, September 7, 2026. The park will also be open Saturday and Sunday September 12 and 13.
The beach only will open on a preseason basis beginning Saturday, May 23 at 11 a.m. and be open weekends and Memorial Day 11am – 6:30pm, then will open on a full-summer schedule with the beach and pool on Friday, June 26 and will be open daily 11am – 6:30pm, weather permitting, through Labor Day, Monday, September 7. The County said season pass information will be announced soon but the Playland site shows the season pass is $85 for residents and $100 for nonresidents.

Last year MANY rides were not operating. For 2026, the only thing mentioned is that the Dragon Coaster will operate. What about the many other rides which were closed last year?
