The Rye Girls Rugby team went 1-2 on Thursday, April 30, defeating Hudson Catholic in their final match of the day 24-5. The Garnets needed the win after falling in their first two 14-minute matches of the day against New Rochelle and Harvey, but rallied to win the last game behind some impressive offense.

The Garnets fell in their first match 29-0 to the hosts New Rochelle, one of the strongest teams in the area. In game two against Harvey, Rye scored first off a try from Grace Shibata. Penelope Ramos also scored in the loss.

Rye salvaged the day with a 24-5 win in the third match. Ramos stole the show with three tries and two conversion kicks. Cole Corcino also scored in the victory.

Rye (2-10) will be in search of their first multi-win match day next Thrusday, May 7, in their soonest series of contests.
