An impaired 48 year old driver fleeing an accident scene has been arrested.

On Thursday, May 7, 2026, New York State Police assigned to SP Tarrytown arrested Jose Luis Dorado-Flores for aggravated DWI on the New York State Thruway in Rye. Around 6:46pm on Thursday, troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on the Thruway (I-287) eastbound near I-95 in Rye. Upon arrival at the scene, troopers interviewed the driver of a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado, which had been side-swiped by a 2018 Honda CRV. The operator of the Silverado indicated that the driver of the Honda left the scene.

With a description of the vehicle, troopers were able to locate it several miles away traveling on the Thruway (I-95) in the village of Port Chester. Upon stopping the vehicle and interviewing the driver, identified as Dorado-Flores, 48, of Stamford, CT, troopers detected signs of impairment. A preliminary roadside breath test was administered, which returned positive for alcohol impairment.

Dorado-Flores was placed under arrest for DWI and transported to SP New Rochelle for processing, where he registered a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.21%, nearly three times the legal limit of 0.08%. In addition to aggravated DWI, Dorado-Flores was issued several uniform traffic tickets, including leaving the scene of a property damage accident. He was released to a sober third party and is due in Rye Town Court on May 29. There were no reported injuries to Dorado-Flores or to the operator of the Silverado, who were the only vehicle occupants.
