The City of Rye Planning Commission greenlit the expansion plan for The Osborn Home on Tuesday evening, June 23, 2026. The 118 year old senior living facility is about to undergo a significant expansion. Its last major expansion was over 25 years ago as part of a project called Pathway 2000.
At its meeting on June 9, the Commission issued a negative declaration under the State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA). This meant the board determined the proposed development will not have any significant adverse environmental impact and as such does not require a lengthy environmental impact statement process.
Tuesday evening there were no further public hearings, only a short procedural work session. The Commission had only just received and began to discuss the final review (see the letter) from its outside consultants La Bella related to the plan a day prior to its last meeting, so wanted time to review the material.
The Commission reviewed their resolution with a brief 10 minute discussion and then voted to approve The Osborn’s plan.
