Rye Resumes Parking Fee Enforcement

Purchase Street Downtown May 2020

Back in March, the City of Rye suspended all parking meter fees in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The parking honeymoon is over. The city is concerned about hemorrhaging all varieties of revenue, and one of parking meter fees (and of course tickets for you scofflaws out there). Parking enforcement starts today, Monday, June 1st, 2020.

“The City is resuming parking fee enforcement,” Rye Mayor Josh Cohn said in a recent update. “Quite simply, the City is anticipating a substantial COVID-19 – induced hit to our revenue stream and must return to business with the rest of Rye. We, fortunately, have been careful with our funds and have some resources to help us manage the strains we may experience.”

The good news is you don’t have to get touchy with the parking machine. You can pay with the Passport Parking app, available in any app store.
