Rye came out swinging and took an early 3-0 lead on RBI doubles by Luke McKay and Charlie Rodilosso. In the 3rd, Jack MacFarlane and Sam Scully came through with RBIs as Rye extended its lead to 5-0. In the bottom of the 3rd, Luke Ontaneda started a key double play, then followed it up with a SAC fly in the 4th to make it 6-0 Rye.

East Meadow reached starter Parker Woods for 2 runs in the 4th to make it 6-2. Woods was otherwise spectacular in his four innings of work, keeping the strong hitting East Meadow team at bay with a mix of fastballs and a terrific breaking ball.

Rye got those runs back and more in the 5th on consecutive doubles by Charlie Rodilosso and Jamie Morris, the latter of which hit the top of the center field wall more than 225 feet away.

With a 9-2 lead, Rye had to stave off an last gasp East Meadow rally that brought the game back to 9-6, before Paul Heintz came in to shut the door and get the save. Rye had 13 hits total, with multiple hits coming from Charlie Rodilosso, Jamie Morris, Charlie Brady, Parker Woods and Jack MacFarlane.

Rye plays again Wednesday morning at 10am.
