Ida Rather Not More Rain, But Here It Comes

Ida is no longer a hurricane, but this tropical depression is headed to Rye on Wednesday into Thursday. The City issued the following warning (see below) on Wednesday evening. Cars should be removed from low lying areas.
NOAA Ida Map 2021-08-31 0_5day_cone_no_line_and_wind
With the approach of the remnants of Ida, we are expecting significant rainfall, beginning on Wednesday continuing into Thursday.  A flash flood watch has been issued for the area with possible rainfall totals of 4 to 6 inches.   Given the historic rainfall in recent weeks, the ground remains saturated and we expect localized flooding.  The high tide at 8 pm Wednesday and again at 9 am on Thursday morning provides additional concern for coastal flooding.  The City is making preparations and increasing Public Safety and Public Works staffing to respond to any issues.
We encourage you to make appropriate personal preparations, particularly in low-lying areas and those areas prone to flooding.  For anyone using the Highland Parking lot, or for those parked on City streets in low lying areas, we encourage you to relocate your car to the MTA main parking lot.  Parking enforcement will be suspended in the lot for Wednesday and Thursday.
Please refer to the contact information below for any issues or emergencies.
