Girls Varsity Swimming Battles Waves from John Jay

Rye Girls Varsity Swimming & Diving battled waves from John Jay Cross River, falling in a 94-81 loss.

“Junior Zoe Lien had a great meet,” said Rye Girls Varsity Swimming & Diving Coach Kelly Johanson. “She won the 50 free- but just missed qualifying for sectionals by .12 seconds. She got 3rd in the 100 free and was the freestyle anchor of the winning 200 medley relay.”

Other highlight included:

  • 200 Medley relay won- Goldberg, Lord, Tiedemann, Lien
  • Freshman Sophia Lord won the 100 breaststroke
  • Other strong swims were Freshman Charlize Tavitian- 2nd place in the 200 free and Kayla Lombardo- 2nd place in the 500 free
  • Senior Captains Logan Brady, Maya Egan and Sophia Hofmann continue to have strong swims, been great at cheering at meets and keeping the team spirit going

The team’s record moves to 1-1. They swim again at 4:30pm Tuesday vs. Bronxville.
