Lisa Tannenbaum, Democrat for Rye City Council, is sponsoring a Community Conversation with New York State Senator Shelley Mayer and Rye residents about climate change, flooding, and how New York State government can help Rye’s recovery and also mitigate future damage.

Many Rye residents have had a triple punch with Elsa, Henri and Ida. While the damage was widespread, some residents’ homes and property were completely devastated. There are many lessons to be learned from these floods – including the likelihood of potential damage from future climatic storms – but they all highlight the importance of having a local government that partners with elected officials at every level of government.

Rye cannot address these issues alone, but has to work with neighboring communities, including the Town of Rye, Harrison, and Mamaroneck, to implement joint solutions. Together we can collaborate with our NYS Senator, Shelley Mayer, on these issues. Assistance from New York State is essential.

“I am honored to have Senator Mayer’s support for my campaign and grateful she is joining me in this important event for Rye residents,” said Tannenbaum. NYS Senator Mayer has endorsed Tannenbaum for Rye City Council.

The event with NYS Senator Shelley Mayer and democratic candidate for Rye City Council Lisa Tannenbaum will be held on October 18th at 6:00 PM in the outdoor, lower pavilion at Rye Recreation, 281 Midland Avenue. Residents are encouraged to attend to share their flood experiences and join the discussion.
