Rye Girls Varsity Swimming & Diving made waves Friday and Saturday at the League 1 Championship Meet
“Rye-Rye Neck- Blind Brook had an amazing League 1 Championship Meet,” said Rye Girls Varsity Swimming & Diving Coach Katie Konopka.
Meet highlights included:
- Kaitlyn Bentley, Rye 8th grader, started the meet off strong placing 11th during the diving competition on Friday night.
- The 200 Medley Relay team of Megan Tiedemann, Sophia Lord, Sydney Goldberg, and Zoe Lien placed 3rd.
- Kayla Lombardo, Rye sophomore, made her sectional cut in the 200 freestyle.
- Sophia Lord, Rye sophomore, placed 3rd in the 100 Fly and won the 100 Breaststrok. Additionally, Sophia qualified for the NYSPHSAA State Championship meet in the 100 Breaststroke.
- The 400 Free Relay team of Zoe Lien, Kayla Lombardo, Sophia Lord, and Sydney Goldberg placed 3rd.
The Rye season is 5-4.
