It was in North Carolina that he found his vocation, graduating from North Carolina Central University Law School in 2016, and founding his own law firm, Kunz Law LLC, in February 2017. He also met his life partner, Hope Alfaro, in North Carolina in May 2017. In December 2021 they were married in downtown Durham, at the 21c Museum Hotel.
A big man in every sense of the word, Charles was known for his ebullience and larger-than-life personality. Always in a suit and tie, with a joke for every occasion, he made an instant impression on everyone he encountered. A dedicated frequent flier with more than two million miles flown, he was equally well regarded in the travel sphere, and he will be greatly missed by lawyers and fliers alike.
Charles is survived by his father, Charles Thomas Kunz, and his mother, Diane Bernstein Kunz, his seven siblings, his wife Hope and daughter Alva. A service will be held Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at 5:30pm at the Kehillah Synagogue at 1200 Mason Farm Road in Chapel Hill.
The family is being assisted by Clements Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. in Durham.
