Rotary Club of Rye Inducts Torres as President for 2023-2024

The Rye Rotary Club announced its new slate of officers for 2023-2024 at its induction ceremony Thursday, July 6th at Wainwright House. Lauren Torres, who is the Private Banking Offices Manager at JP Morgan Chase Bank, was installed as the new president.

Torres has been a Rotary member for the past three years and most recently served as President Elect of the club. In addition to her work with the Rotary, she is also very active with the Rye Chamber of Commerce, currently serving as its Secretary.

“This year’s Rotary International theme is to ‘create hope in the world’ and I can’t help but be excited about all the opportunities we have as a club and an organization to help spread a renewed sense of hope in the Rye Community and the world,” Torres said.

Other officers inducted at the ceremony include Cathy DeMartino as President Elect, Cathy Garr as Secretary, and Bob Manheimer as Treasurer. In addition, Richard Flahive, Jon Gluck, Bob Praid, and Richard Sgaglio were sworn in as Directors of the club. Thomas will also remain active on the board as a Director for the 2023-2024 term.

This year marks the 61st year since the club was founded in Rye. With support from the community, the Rotary Club of Rye hopes to continue its longstanding tradition of service within the Rye Community and beyond. The Rye Rotary Club is one of approximately 32,000 Rotary clubs in more than 200 countries. It provides annual scholarships at Rye High School, as well as other grants and awards within the community.
