Judith Babson Werben (nee Wight), longtime resident of Greenwich, CT and Rye, NY, passed away on July 25, 2023, in Hartford, CT. She was 89. Born in Evanston, IL, she was the daughter of Read & Florence Wight. She graduated from Rye Country Day School and SUNY Purchase College.
Judy had a gift for languages and was fluent in Italian, Spanish and French. She also spoke some Dutch and was learning Portuguese. She loved to garden, feed the birds & squirrels, and do genealogy research on her family. She was a creative writer and avid reader.
She is survived by her daughter Debora Graves Westcott (John) and son Robert Read Graves, grandchildren Jessica Finzi Marriott (Charles) and John Wesley Westcott IV (Magi), and great-grandchildren Katherine and Walker Marriott. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Alfred G. Werben, her brother Anthony Read Wight and her parents.
She will be buried in the family plot at Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge, MA at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial donation to an animal rescue organization of your choice.
