Rye Girls Varsity Soccer zeroed Edgemont on Thursday with a 5 – 0 win away.
“Rye controlled the pace of the game from the opening whistle,” said Rye Girls Varsity Soccer Coach Rich Savage. “They moved the ball quickly creating many scoring opportunities for Rye.”
Isabel Harvey opened up the scoring for Rye at the 12 minute mark with a perfectly played pass from Bowyn Brown. The second goal came from freshman Charlotte Keenan as she dribbled by two defenders and tucked the ball in the lower corner of the net.
Just before the end of the half, Rye conceded a penalty kick and keeper Tessa Labowitz made a diving save to preserve the lead. As the second half start, once again Isabel Harvey scored a goal with an assist from Charlotte Keenan.
Lyla Keenan would curve in a corner kick for Rye’s fourt goal. The final goal came off a perfect pass from Sophia Shoemaker with Joy DeSanto taking a perfect sit in the upper left corner.
The team is now 4 – 1. Rye will host Ardsley on Saturday with a 7:00pm kick off (watch it).
