Joseph W. Klausz was a 28 year member of the City of Rye Police Department. He was hired on April 29, 1974 and retired April 30, 2002. He was promoted to the rank of Sergent on June 14, 1998.
Joseph W. Klausz of Putnam Valley passed away on August 31, 2023 at the age of 82. He was born in the Bronx on April 30, 1941 to John and Mary Klausz.
Loving husband of Nancy: beloved Dad of Joseph, Jr (Nicole) Klausz and Laura (John) Listwan: cherished Grandpa of Emily, John, Kevin, Bella, Jake and Eva. Joseph was predeceased by a brother John and a sister Marion.
Joseph proudly served our Country in the United States Navy. He retired as a Police Sergeant from the City of Rye Police Department, where he established the bicycle patrol and a weight room for the department. Joseph was responsible for getting the Accreditation for the Rye Police Department. He valued his time mentoring the young police officers.
Joseph ran 14 marathons throughout the Country starting at the age of 50 years old. He was an avid NY Yankees fan and enjoyed reading. His true joy was watching his grandchildren playing sports and so incredibly loved spending time with his grandchildren and family. Joseph will be missed by all who knew him and his memory will be greatly cherished by his family.
