Rye Girls Varsity Soccer hooked John Jay East Fishkill to win the away match 4 – 1.
“The Keenan sisters, freshman Charlotte and junior Lyla, each combined for two goals to lift the Garnets over the AAA John Jay East Fishkill team,” said Rye Girls Varsity Soccer Coach Rich Savage.
The rain didn’t delay the start for the Garnets, the first goal coming just three minutes into the match. Center midfielder Maddy Walsh beat a defender and as other players stepped to mark Walsh, she threaded a pass to Charlotte Keenan. After collecting the pass, Keenan had a crafty turn and finished in the lower right corner.
Shortly after, Keenan’s older sister Lyla would receive a pass from Bowyn Brown and would ping a shot off the post that would ricochet to the back of the net. Just fifteen minutes later, Reese Lejiuz would set up Charlotte Keenan’s second goal, while Maddy Walsh would combine with Lyla Keenan for her second goal of the match.
Claire Nemsick had a solid defensive performance for the Garnets.

The busy schedule doesn’t let up as Rye will travel to Tappan Zee Monday morning for an 11:00am game (watch it).
