Ann Sadlier Dinger McKenna of Rye, NY passed away on Friday, September 29, 2023. Born in New York, NY on August 9, 1937 to Angela (Naughton) and F. Sadlier Dinger. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 57 years William “Bill” McKenna in 2020.
Ann and Bill lived in New Rochelle, NY for more than 50 years and raised their 5 children there. Ann was the devoted mother of William McKenna (Catherine) of Yonkers, NY, Kevin McKenna (Anne) of Yonkers NY, Katherine McKenna Watcke (Robert) of Southport, CT, Virginia Bentley (Mark) of Fairfield, CT, John McKenna of Yonkers, NY, and foster mother to Kathy Meyer Desiderio (Robert) of Carolina Shores, NC. She was adored by her 15 grandchildren, Liam, Ginny Rose, Patrick Joseph, Siobhan, Thomas, Brian, Sean, Meghan, Brendon, Rachael, Colm, Amber, George, William, Riley and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Frank Dinger (Beatrice) of Vero Beach, FL and sister Lauren McCauley (Arthur) of Norwalk, CT. Ann was predeceased by her brother William “Bill” Dinger (Maureen) of New York, NY.
Ann grew up in Searingtown, NY and graduated from the Convent of the Sacred Heart, Greenwich ’55 and Rosemont College ’59. Ann was a teacher for East Meadow Schools, Westbury, NY and worked as an editor for William H Sadlier, Inc. before raising her family.
The family will receive visitors on Thursday October 5th from 4-7 pm at Graham Funeral Home, 1036 Boston Post Road, Rye. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Resurrection Church in Rye on Friday, October 6th at 10 am. Interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Valhalla, NY.
