The Rotary Club of Rye has announced its 2023 Food Drive to benefit Bread of Life Food Pantry in Rye, The Carver Center in Port Chester, The Don Bosco Community Center in Port Chester and My Sister’s Place in White Plains. The drive got underway last Friday and will run through Friday, November 17th.

For the past four years, The Rotary Club of Rye has conducted a holiday food drive to help stock pantries that provide direct service to our community and beyond. Last year, the club collected and distributed more than 1,000 pounds of food and 1,400 diapers to non-profits who provide assistance over the holidays.

This year, the club is collecting:

  • Toiletries such as toothpaste, shampoo, body wash, and deodorant
  • Foods such as rice, bean, pasta, soup, tuna, oatmeal, tomato sauce, vegetable oil and shelf stable milk
  • Diapers

The club has set up drop off locations at the following locations:

  • Chase Bank – 73 Purchase Street, Rye, NY
  • Citibank – 120 Boston Post Road, Rye, NY
  • Customer’s Bank – 102 S. Ridge Street, Rye Brook, NY
  • Webster Bank – 72 Purchase Street, Rye, NY
  • First Republic Bank – 34 Popham Road, Scarsdale, NY

“With a challenging economy and high inflation rate, food insecurity has skyrocketed in Westchester County so our club will continue to do our part to ensure individuals and families have food and necessities for the Thanksgiving holiday,” said Lauren Torres, president of the Rotary Club of Rye. “Rotary International’s motto is service above self and the Rotary Club of Rye is dedicated to helping others year-round.”

2023 marks the 61st year since the club was founded in Rye. The club and its associated Rye Rotary Foundation has funded more than a hundred thousand dollars in scholarships for Rye High School students over the years. They also provide funding for both hyper local projects here in Rye and international projects such as funding to build and maintain clean water wells in rural areas of Africa.
