Girls Varsity Swimming Makes Waves @ Sectionals

Rye Girls Varsity Swimming and Diving made waves at sectionals on Thursday.

“The Rye-Rye Neck-Blind Brook team had and amazing Section 1 Championship meet this week,” said Rye Girls Varsity Swimming and Diving Coach Katie Konopka. “We placed 7th out of 27 teams.”

The 200 Medley Relay, 200 Free relay, and Kate Chesley (100 Back) will travel to Rochester to compete at the NYSPHSAA State Championship Meet November 16-18th.

Highlights included:

• The 200 Medley Relay (Kate Chesley, Kayla Lombardo, Megan Tiedemann, and Sydney Goldberg) placed 4th.
• The 200 Free Relay ( Kayla Lombardo, Sydney Goldberg, Grayson Findlay, and Ayana Ite) placed 7th.
• The 400 Free Relay (Grayson Findlay, Megan Tiedemann, Sophie Boyle, and Ayana Ite) placed 6th.
• Top 8 individual finishes include: Sydney Goldberg (6th in the 100 Breaststroke) and Kate Chesley (7th in the 100 Backstroke).
