Re-do the uniforms. Not Rye FD. Not Rye PD. Maybe Rye FPD? WTF?
Yep, a fire & police department merger of sorts may be in the works. or at least they may have the same boss – a "Public Safety Commissioner". The topic will be discussed at a Budget Workshop held by the City Council of the City of Rye on Monday, December 5, 2011. See you at 8:00pm in Council Chambers in City Hall. Meetings are also aired on Cablevision Channel 75 and Verizon Channel 39. We'll also see you on the Internet (live and archive).
The Council will convene at 7:15 p.m. and it is expected they will adjourn into Executive Session at 7:16 p.m. to discuss labor relations.
Specific topics include 2012 Budget Review: Fire Department; General Budget Discussion and Questions; and Discussion of setting a Public Hearing to amend the City of Rye Charter for the creation of a Public Safety Commissioner to head the Police Department and the Fire Department reporting directly to the City Manager.

What is so frustrating for me is that this counsel can not make a decision. Paper or plastic bags, merge or not merge, stop sign or no stop sign. It would be nice if they made a decision and just stick to it. Whether I agree or not, the fact that 7 elected officials don’t want to make a decision makes them look likes fools.
Honest Citizen,
For the most part you are correct.
On October 5th the Council unaminously voted to at least do a STOP SIGN PILOT TEST @ Midland/Palisade.
They instructed our City Manager to move forward and get it done.
Instead of doing what our City Manager Scott Pickup was instructed to do by “ALL 7” of his bosses he chose to go behind their back and do his best to undermind their “UNANIMOUS” decision!
For Scott Pickup this seems to be a “PERSONAL” battle with me for some unexplained reason.
Scott Pickup would rather see a 3rd, 4th, & 5th child struck down by moving cars than to install a STOP SIGN!
Mr. Pickup needs to find a new line of work, preferably NOT IN RYE!!!
If this is how he treats our children I can only imagine how he puts his own children in the same danger….someone should call CPS and send the WHITE COATS to his home just like they did to Bob Schubert!!!
