In what appears to be another tragedy, Elliot Meister of the Rye High School class of 2014 and a current student at Vanderbilt University, was found dead this morning in a college dorm, according to college officials.

According to the Nashville NBC affiliate, local police suspect the death is due to a drug overdose. Calls came into police around 2am Wednesday. In 2014, Meister was one of only three Rye High students named to finalist status in the 2014 National Merit Scholarship program competition.

The parents are Lotte and David Meister. Lotte Meister is an interior designer and stylist who used to manage the Nest store on Purchase Street. David Meister is a partner at Skadden’s Government Enforcement and White Collar Crime Group. He was previously a federal regulator at the enforcement unit of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.
