Over the last several weeks the Rye Free Reading Room and MyRye.com have asked various Rye citizens – elected officials, city staff, community leaders and local authors – to read a story for the youngest citizens of Rye. We are now pleased to be showcasing local Rye merchants (if you are a local merchant, and would like to participate, please get in touch).
Today, Rye Sustainability Committee’s Patti Capparelli reads Miranda Paul’s One Plastic Bag: Isatou Ceesay and the Recycling Women of the Gambia.
Capparelli is the chairwoman of the Rye Sustainability Committee. She helped spearheaded the research and launch of Rye’s food scrap recycling program. She also created the resource Where Do I Recycle or Donate Unwanted Items? and during COVID-19 helped establish a program called From Acorn to Oak.
