Boys Varsity Lacrosse Sends Yorktown Up County in OT
Rye Boys Varsity Lacrosse sent Yorktown Up County in OT on Monday, 9-8 at Nugent Stadium.
“Owen Kovacs netted the overtime game winner on a backhand shot with 2:51 left in the first OT, after the ball popped out of a scrum next to the crease and he was able to smoothly catch the ball and find the net,” said Rye Boys Varsity Lacrosse Coach Steve Lennon. “He ended the day with 3 goals and 2 assists on the day.”
This is the first time Rye has beaten Yorktown in boys lacrosse. Caden Whaling ended the game with 3 goals, Liam Hurley had 2 goals 3 assists, Kian McCarthy had 1 goal 1 assist, and Jack Garnett ended the game with 8 saves. Johnny Hartzell went 12/20 (60%) on faceoffs.
