Down the Drain. July 3. Newburry Place / Van Buren Street. Assist Citizen. caller states there is an animal stuck and in distress on the N/E corner of location stuck in a catch basin drain. caller could tell what kind of animal it was. GOA.

Biker Gang Protection. July 4. Highland Road / Mendota Avenue. Public Event. Resident request police presence for children’s bike parade. Location Changed From HIGHLAND RD / WAPPANOCCA AV To Mendota AV / Highland RD. Assisted in traffic control during block party event. 98.

Checked Out. July 7. Marriott Courtyard / 631 Midland Avenue. Assist Other Police. Attempting to serve order of protection for Vermont State Police. Cars 11 & 18 dispatched. UNABLE TO SERVE PAPERWORK, PARTY NO LONGER IS RENTING THE ROOM AT THE MARRIOTT. 10-98.

Fits Like A… July 7. Rye Town Dock. Property Recovered. a Body glove Inflatable paddle board was found beached next to the Town dock. The paddle board is being stored in the PB-3 trailer. Recovered property report completed.

Verizon Can’t Hear. Or They Just Don’t Listen. July 7. Hix Avenue. Utility-Wire Down. report of low wire on the street. Incident Reactivated. Approx. 2000hrs, I was dispatched to the above location for wires in the roadway. Upon my observation, it was Verizon Telephone wires down from the previous night before storm. I had Disp contact Verizon to send out an Emergency Crew several times but unable to get an ETA. Disp. PO. Cancel spoke with Verizon Representative Roman & Supervisor illeen Harris Weber again & they did not want to send an emergency crew until 0700hrs tomorrow. I taped it off with Police Caution tape the wires from pole to pole. Verizon was informed it’s a hazardous situation but refused still to send an emergency crew.

In addition to all the news about the wonderful kids in Rye, there needs to be more attention to the roving bands of skateboarders, bikers, etc., who are menacing the local stores and citizens who speak to them. They are surly and use foul language when spoken to by store personnel or anyone trying to move their car, walk in their vicinity, etc. The parents should be made aware.
