It was lights out for Garnet football (and for over 500 other Rye Con Ed customers).
With Rye Boys Varsity Football up 21-0 in the third quarter, battling John Jay Cross River at Nugent stadium, it was lights out. Literally.
A transformer blew just before 7:30pm and the remainder of Friday evening’s playoff game was suspended. The game is expected to resume play on Saturday at 10am.
There is rain in the forecast through all day Saturday into the early hours of Sunday morning.
