MyRye.com: What do you do?
Hein: Lieutenant. I currently oversee the Patrol Division.
Where do you work?
Hein: My desk, and how I serve our community, has changed several times since I began in January of 2007. Initially, my desk was at the Westchester Police Academy where I attended as a recruit. Once off field training, and for several years after, my desk was a police car. For the two years I served as the Village Officer, my desk was a bicycle. After being promoted to Sergeant my desk has either been at the front of headquarters answering and dispatching calls or in the Records Department. Since my promotion to Lieutenant in July, my desk is now in the back of Headquarters.
Describe your desk and office.
Hein: My office is in the back of Police Headquarters and overlooks the MTA lot. The walls and magnetic spots have an assortment of photos, art from my children, and other decorations. The desk area is usually covered with various paperwork and my dual monitor computer screens. Sitting in this office, I’m motivated by my friends and family. My family means the world to me and I’m grateful I can provide for them while serving a community I love. My predecessor, retired Lt. Scott Craig, left big shoes to fill and I try to live up to his ethic every day. Last, but certainly not least, every member of my Department motivates me to do better. Watching officers like Lt. Mike Anfuso pouring his heart and soul into every aspect of the job or PO Jesse Calcagni perform lifesaving actions on a 14-month-old helps me to strive to do my best.
