Rye Girls Varsity Soccer 2022-09-21 vs. Lakeland

Rye Girls Varsity Soccer drained Lakeland on Wednesday, winning at home 5-1.

“Rye played a very balanced game and improved their play as the game went on,” said Rye Girls Varsity Soccer Coach and Birthday Boy Rich Savage.

Rye opened the scoring early with a goal from sophomore Bowyn Brown off a great assist from Reese Lejuez. Lakeland scored one minute later on a direct kick to equalize the score.

Senior captain provided Rye with the go ahead goal with 14 minutes left in the half. Freshman Phoebe Lee had a critical goal with 10 seconds left in the first half. Junior captain Maddy Walsh added two goals in the second half to secure the win for Rye.

Rye’s Meredith Kenny played well defensively as well as Della Goodman.

The season is now 5-1. Watch the replay. Rye will be back in action on Friday 4:30pm at Byram Hills.
