Seven Medals at Head of the Charles Regatta for RowAmerica Rye
At one of the most prestigious head races in the world, RowAmerica Rye took home seven medals last Sunday. The Head of the Charles Regatta hosts over 11,000 competitors who qualify to participate. RowAmerica Rye brought a large team of 52 rowers to race in eight youth events and all boats finished within the top six.
“By taking 1st and 3rd places in the most competitive youth event, our Women’s Youth Eight A & B boats made history at the Head of the Charles,” said Director of Rowing & Head Coach of Youth Women Marko Serafimovski. “The A boat set a course record and our B boat started in nearly last position, navigated through a field of boats on the winding course to finish 3rd, as the fastest U17 boat in the event. ”
“In an international field of highly select crews with up to 90 entries in many events, the team’s incredible performance in Boston this past weekend demonstrated a real depth of talent in our program on both the boys and girls team,” continued Serafimovski on the programs performance at Head of the Charles. “We are incredibly proud of our athletes for their dedication to both the team and our sport of rowing. ”
The RowAmerica Rye team worked hard all fall and began the season with strong results at the Head of the Housatonic and at the Head of the Riverfront, where they took the overall team trophy for the 2nd consecutive year. The team races again this Sunday at the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta in Philadelphia.
