It’s a full court press over at Rye Recreation on Midland Avenue. With some assistance from FEMA (federal dollars in the wake of the Ida storm) and Rye’s own DPW to help keep costs down, Rec is debuting a series of new tennis and pickleball courts. To check hours, court availability and book court time, head over to Rye Rec.

Take a look:

Four new tennis hard courts in “US Open” colors. A visit earlier in the week showed the girls tennis teams enjoying the new courts:

Four new lined pickleball courts. These are two older tennis courts that have now been lined and will be bookable for pickleball. They are permanent pickleball courts, with improved, stationary nets. These courts replace the three prior pickleball areas that users could set-up on the basketball courts.

Two existing tennis Har-Tru courts. Few municipal rec departments offer these court types as they require additional maintenance (read: cost) versus the hard courts.

Remaining our four tennis hard courts at Disbrow Park that are in need of an upgrade. Recreation officials said that work still needs to be funded by the City. All of this activity of overseen by Superintendent of Rye Recreation Erin Mantz and her relatively new rec crew of Kevin Thompson (recreation attendant), Danielle Fairweather (assistant superintendent) and Samantha Arone (recreation attendant and registration).
