The Rye Girls Varsity Tennis Team came away with its tenth win on Monday evening, defeating the Suffern Mounties 7-0 thanks to some key comeback efforts. The team was the first to double digit wins at Rye this year, beating Boys Soccer by a few minutes. The win also happened to occur on senior night, making it an even more impressive result.

“On senior night, playing against Suffern’s two best players, senior co-captains Brooke Gori and Charlotte Lorraine came back to win 2-6, 6-3, 10-1 in a Super tiebreaker to help seal the 7-0 senior night celebration,” Head Coach Anthony Campbell recapped in his postgame report. “Sophomores Ella Poole and Paloma Pepper came back from down 5-2 in the second set to win in a tiebreaker 6-2 7-6 (7-1).”

The two come-from-behind efforts led Rye to the 7-0 sweep, as the other doubles partners and single competitors held their own as well. Between senior night festivities and a school-leading tenth win (in dominant fashion no less), it was a great night to be a Rye tennis player.

The team (10-2) travels to Harrison on Tuesday, October 8 for a road clash with the Huskies. They will look to become the first Rye team to reach eleven wins this fall in a match that begins at 4:30pm.
