Huskies Bite Garnet Boys Soccer as they Head Into Post Season

Rye Boys Varsity Soccer 2024-10-19 @ Harrison

The Harrison Huskies bit Rye Boys Varsity Soccer on Saturday in the team’s last regular season game. The Huskies took the win 3 – 0 in canine territory.

“Harrison played well, and as a result we struggled to put in our best performance,” Head Coach Jared Small told MyRye.com after the game. “While disappointing to not finish with a better result at the end of an awesome regular season, we learned some valuable lessons that will help motivate and instruct us in the playoffs. We are excited to host a 1st round playoff game next Saturday, and love the fact that if we win that first game we’ll be rewarded with a second home playoff game the next week. Our home stadium is the best and we will be ready for the moment.”

Harrison scored off a flick from a long throw in 20 minutes into the match. They doubled the lead off a free kick early in the second half and the gap became too big to close. Aydan Breen and Martin Fields split time in goal with each making at least one key save to keep the match within reach. Rye had a few opportunities late in the match to narrow the deficit.

The Garnets end the regular season with a 11 – 4 record. Watch Saturday’s replay.
