Honoring Service: Veteran John Blumenthal, Korean War

John Blumenthal was born in Minnesota in 1930. He, his parents, and his younger sister Jane all moved to Rye when John was a young boy. The family lived at 4 Pine Lane, and John has since been a lifelong Rye resident.

John attended Milton Elementary School growing up, and later graduated from Rye High School. During his four years at RHS, John was a three-sport athlete, as he played tennis, football, and basketball. John was also the sports editor for the high school newspaper.
John graduated from Colgate University, and shortly thereafter he enlisted in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He served in the US Army while overseas, although his exact division is unknown.
John Blumenthal returned to Rye after his service. He stayed involved in many community organizations, including the Rye Free Reading Room and SPRye. More on Blumenthal.
