Rye Squash Narrowly Defeats Squash Haven Behind Cavatoni’s Heroics

Joey Cavatoni may not be the star of the Rye Garnets Varsity Squash Team, but he stole the show on Saturday, January 25, as his team took down Squash Haven 4-3. Cavatoni went to five games with his opponent, eventually winning the decisive game 16-14. It does not get closer or more exciting than that.
Rye’s Charlie Rodilosso (#1), Andrew Chun (#2), and Nate Kim-Reuter (#4) all took down their counterparts in 3-0 sweeps, but Squash Haven won in the #3, #5, and #6 matchups, setting up the dramatic 5-game series between the #7s, which Cavatoni took in exhilirating fashion.
Rye (4-3) finally picks up a close win after losing two of their last three by the familair 4-3 score. They will look to make it two in a row in their next match on Tuesday, January 28th, at 6:00pm. The Garnets take on City Squash at Fordham University’s courts.
