Despite sending out only four players, the Rye Varsity Squash Team picked up a clean 6-1 victory over Westport on Thursday, January 30, sweeping their opposition. The Garnets only had six available athletes to compete, which turned out to be more than enough.

“We won in a clean sweep, 6-1, with the only loss due to default,” Head Coach Quan Hyunh said after the match. “Despite missing four of our players, the team was super-focused and won every match.”

Charlie Rodilosso, Nate Kim-Reuter, Harry Ellis, Michael Talbott, Joey Cavatoni, and Owen Karl represented the Garnets 1-6 in the impressive showing, with little drama in each of their decisions. The Garnets completely outclassed Westport at Lifetime in Harrison. They capped off a busy stretch of five meets in nine days with three straight victories, the one thursday being the most dominant. They have also now won five of their last six matches on the season to improve from 1-2 to 6-3.

Finally, Rye gets some real time off, as they don’t suit up again until Tuesday, February 4. That away match is scheduled for 7:30pm versus Greenwich at the Greenwich Field Club in Connecticut.
