“Total Team Effort” Leads Rye Squash to Second Consecutive 4-3 Victory

The Rye Varsity Squash Team made it two in a row on Tuesday, January 28, eking out a 4-3 victory over City Squash on the road. Team co-captain Philip Nemeth won a 5-game match in the #5 position to give Rye the overall win in their second consecutive nail-biter.
“We squeaked out a 4-3 victory with wins at 1, 5, 6 and 7,” Head Coach Quan Hyunh said after the match. “It was a total team effort.”
At times this season, the Garnets have struggled to get much production out of their lower seeds, with Charlie Rodilosso and Andrew Chun finding great success in the #1 and #2 slots. However, Nemeth and the rest of Rye’s lower-ranked players showed up in a big way against City Squash on Tuesday, guiding Rye to the close victory.
Rye (5-3) next plays against Westport at 8:00pm on Thursday, January 30, a home match at Lifetime in Harrison. Hyunh and his group will look to make it three in a row and increase their season win percentage to .667.
