Rye Girls Golf picked up two wins to start the week, defeating Bronxville 240-277 on Monday, April 27, and Ursuline and Byram Hills/Fox Lane (BHFL) one day later in a three-team match. Rye has launched themselves into the forefront of first place discussions in their league with another set of strong performances.

Monday vs Bronxville

Rye picked up a comfortable win by 37 strokes as a team to improve to 3-1 on the season.

“The team continued its strong season with an impressive victory over a competitive Bronxville squad at the historic Siwanoy Country Club,” Head Coach Rich Savage told MyRye.com. “The Garnets showcased excellent teamwork and course management with their sharp short game around the greens playing a key role in the win.”

Senior captain Myla Bisceglia was Rye’s medalist on the day, continuing an expected strong season. Anna Bancroft, Laeticia Clauss, and Phoebe Lee were key secondary contributors, playing well enough to help Rye to a very solid score of 240 as a team.

“The Garnets have been steadily building momentum this spring,” Savage continued. “With team chemistry building and performances peaking, Rye is positioning itself as a force to watch as the postseason approaches.”

Tuesday vs Ursuline and BHFL

Rye followed up their dominant Monday win with a clutch victory on Tuesday, April 29, their fourth in a row. They scored 249 as a team, better than both Ursuline and a combined Byram Hills/Fox Lane team.

The Garnets prevailed in “one of the most competitive matchups of the season,” Savage told MyRye.com. “With all three teams closely matched, every shot counted, and it was the Garnets’ depth and determination that ultimately made the difference.”

While the depth was the story, Bisceglia once again medaled. She consistently sets the tone and gives Rye a steady floor at the top of their depth chart, which once again prevailed in the last two matches.

Behind the senior, the Garnets had amazing days from depth performers. “The back end of Rye’s lineup delivered clutch performances under pressure, helping to edge out both opponents in a dramatic finish,” Savage explained. “Laeticia Claus, Anna Bancroft, Iciar Garate, and Torri Hobbins all came through with key scores that proved vital to the team’s overall success. Their steady play and resilience were instrumental in securing the double victory.”
