The Rye Boys Golf Team picked up win number eight on the 2025 season on Thursday, May 1, doing so by a razor thin margin. The Garnets defeated Scarsdale 197-198 at Rye Golf Club to avenge an earlier season loss, where every stroke was pivotal.
“Today was a great high school golf match,” Head Coach Pat Romano told MyRye.com on Friday. “Two very good teams battling it out and we were very fortunate to come out on top.”
Graham Erickson was the hero for Rye, shooting a 35, which is one under par on the home course. He was the medalist of the match and arguably the biggest reason for the Garnets’ win, although they needed everybody in a one-stroke separation.
“I’m proud of our guys hanging in there and coming together to get the win,” Romano continued.
Rye is now 8-1-1 and have won three consecutive matches against Eastchester, Pelham, and now Scarsdale. They have a chance to make it four straight when they host Byram Hills on Tuesday, May 6. First tee is scheduled for 3:20pm at Rye Golf Club against the Bobcats.
